EKOL Maritime Training Center has been serving in the Maritime Education Sector since 1997, under the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of National Education.
EKOL has brought many people into the maritime industry with the training it has provided, ranging from Deck Watchkeeping/Engineering Officer to Oceangoing Captain/Chief Engineer.
At Ekol Denizcilik, with the start of each new academic year, there is the excitement and pride of raising new Ekol students.
The training carried out within the institution is primarily based on compliance with national and international legislation. In this context, our EKOL Maritime Practical Training Center (located in Beykoz) ranks second in terms of capability in our region - right after the Maritime Faculty of ITU.
In addition to EKOL trainees, Piri Reis University Maritime Faculty and Maritime Vocational School students, Yıldız Technical University students and trainees of 6 maritime courses in Istanbul have been receiving training at our facility since July 2015. The lessons given are as follows: Fundamentals of Fire Training, Use of Lifesaving Equipment, Survival at Sea, Advanced Fire and Lifeboat Training. We continue to provide these types of training to seafarers who have already graduated previously.
One of the biggest problems facing the maritime education sector today is finding vessels for trainee internships and finding employment, especially for first-time seafarers. To solve this problem we established the EKOL Private Employment Agency - which is the official employment service under the MLC2006 Convention and operated by İŞKUR.
Through the efforts of this service, our students no longer have the problem of finding a ship for an internship. The same service is provided free of charge to all trainees studying at our institution.
EKOL is the largest maritime training institution in our country, and has been an innovator of maritime education since inception; with its 3 current administrators, 35 instructors who are experts in their fields, 12 employees, a capacity of 520 students, and 92 different authorized courses. EKOL has achieved this by closely following the national and international developments in the maritime education sector in order to provide the best services to our students.
