Ship Cook Training

The Ship Cook Training is designed to equip aspiring ship cooks with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies required for working in a ship’s galley. The training is conducted in accordance with MLC 2006 CONVENTION Title-3 Regulation 3.2, ILO CERTIFICATION OF SHIP’S COOK 1946 No: 68 & 69, STCW 78, SOLAS 74, MARPOL 73/78, and relevant national regulations (National Education Basic Law No. 1739, Vocational Education Law No. 3308, Private Education Institutions Law No. 5580, etc.).

Who Can Participate?

Age Requirement: 18 years and above

Prerequisite: Must have obtained a cook qualification under the Seafarers’ Regulation

The Main Objectives of the Training Program:

Our course aims to equip participants with the following skills to succeed in a ship’s galley:

General Kitchen Safety

Implementation of safety procedures suitable for working conditions on a ship

Food Hygiene and Health Regulations

Creating a healthy and hygienic working environment

Management of Food Poisoning Risks

Causes of food poisoning and preventive measures

Environmental Responsibility

Measures to prevent marine pollution

Menu Planning and Stock Control

Managing the ship’s food supplies, creating balanced menus, and portion calculation

Cultural and Religious Sensitivity

Preparing meals suitable for the dietary habits of multicultural seafarers

 

Practical Cooking Techniques

Preparation of various dishes, bread, dough, and pastry making

Language Skills

Learning the English names of supplied food ingredients

Evaluation and Certification

At the end of the training program, participants will be evaluated through:

Oral, Written, and Practical Exams: Assessed according to the examination methods determined by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs, and Communications.

Certificate of Achievement: Candidates who score 60 or above in the exam will be awarded a “Course Completion Certificate.”
