Integrated Ship Safety Training

The Integrated Ship Safety Training, created to raise awareness about ship security for all workers in the maritime sector, is organized under STCW 78 Rule VI/6, Code A-VI/6. This training, based on IMO Model Courses 3.26 and 3.27, aims to ensure that ship personnel comply with the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

The course combines the curricula of Security Awareness Training, Security Awareness and Prevention Training, and Designated Security Duties Training, offering a comprehensive security training program.

Who Can Participate?

This course is open to anyone required to undergo security training as specified in the Seafarers’ Regulation. It is particularly important for ship officers, crew members, port security personnel, and anyone involved in ship security duties under the ISPS Code.

Main Objectives of the Training Program

With this training, participants are expected to:

  • Increase awareness of maritime security,
  • Gain the ability to maintain and implement the ship security plan,
  • Recognize maritime security threats and take effective preventive measures,
  • Apply the correct procedures in the event of a security breach,
  • Develop awareness of piracy, armed robbery, and other security threats,
  • Learn the correct use of ship security systems and devices

The training spans a total of 16 instructional hours, organized over 2 days, with 8 hours of lessons per day.

Training Content

Day 1

  • History of criminal activities at sea
  • Piracy, armed attacks, and other maritime threats
  • International maritime security regulations (SOLAS, ISPS Code, STCW)
  • Ship security plan and its implementation
  • Recognizing security risks and threats
  • Procedures to follow in the event of a security breach

Day 2

  • Security policies for ship and port operations
  • Maritime security levels and their application
  • Use of security systems and equipment
  • Acting in accordance with the ship security plan
  • Physical search and control techniques
  • Measures to prevent armed robbery and piracy threats

Evaluation and Certification

At the end of the course, participants will undergo both written and practical exams in accordance with the Seafarers’ Training Regulations. Candidates who score 60 or higher will be considered successful and will be awarded the “Course Completion Certificate.” This certificate is approved by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and ensures that seafarers acquire the necessary competencies in line with STCW requirements.
