Ekol Shipping Private Training Institution has been serving in the “Maritime Training Sector” since 1997, under the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication, and the Ministry of National Education.
Ekol Shipping has contributed to the maritime industry with the trainings it has provided to many people, from training the Deck Watchkeeping Officer/First Engineer to the Unlimited Master/Chief Engineer.
With the start of each new academic year within Ekol Shipping, the excitement and pride in raising new Ekol Shipping residents is strongly felt.
In the maritime trainings carried out within the institution, compliance with national and international legislation is taken as the primary basis. In this context, our Ekol Shipping Security Applied Training Center in Beykoz is ranked second in our region in terms of its opportunities, after the ITU Faculty of Maritime Sciences.
Basic Applied Training on Fire, Operating Life Saving Vehicles, Survival at Sea, Advanced Fire, and Proficiency of Quick Life Boat Use have been provided to Piri Reis University Maritime Faculty and Maritime Vocational School students, Yıldız Technical University students, and the trainees of 6 maritime courses in Istanbul. In addition to the Ekol trainees since July 2015, in our mentioned facility and these types of trainings are still being provided to seafarers who have graduated from the relevant schools.
One of the main difficulties in the maritime education sector today is finding an internship vessel for students as well as employment; especially for the seafarers who have been qualified for their first time. As an institution, another first solution has been achieved and Ekol Private Employment Agency, operating under İŞKUR has been established in our Üsküdar campus in accordance with MLC 2006 as an official business direction service.
As the result of the works of this service unit, the problem of finding an internship vessel for our trainees – who receive a two-year deck watchkeeping officer and engineering officer training in our institution – has been eliminated. The same service is provided free of charge to all course attendees who receive training from our institution.
Ekol Shipping, which is the largest private maritime education institution in our country with its 3 administrators, 35 expert instructors, 12 employees, a course attendee capacity of 420 persons and 92 different courses, is authorized to initiate, closely monitor national and international developments in the sector. This is thanks to its corporate structure and is always in the leading position in the maritime education sector.
